At Del Mar Surf Camp, we have realized how much Pilates and Surfing are a true complement to each other – through the series of core and total body flow and fitness. For all the Pilates enthusiasts out there, we have put this retreat together as a way to enjoy Pilates in a different area, in one of the most beautiful beaches in the world – Santa Teresa.

Join us in a daily Pilates Mat class and a daily Semi-Private class with a Pilates Reformer and Cadillac! The entire experience is about discovering Pilates for you in different environments, especially the Ocean and Pilates helps to prepare you for this. And, if you know how to surf, you already perform many Pilates maneuvers without the realization that you do! There is a definite parallel between Pilates and Surfing, that is why Del Mar Surf Camp feel it is important to combine this type of retreat and we invite you to join us for this first ever – Surf and Pilates retreat!

Prices don’t include transportation to the resort in Santa Teresa – Mal Pais. If you would like for us to arrange transportation, we can offer round trip transportation from San Jose to Santa Teresa – Mal Pais (either via airplane/ground shuttle depending on your flight information) for $400 USD/person. When you book your package you will get your own bed (Shared: single bed with shared washroom or Private: king bed with private washroom,) in a luxurious Oceanside Private Home in remote Santa Teresa. With a personal Del Mar Suf Camp Host, you’ll be sure to have a safe & comfortable stay.

Surf Lessons & All Equipment Provided By Del Mar Surf Camp

 

 

Each beginner surf lesson will have a 2 to 1 instructor to student ratio for two to three hours, meaning you will always get the undivided attention you deserve with maximum safety. In all surf packages, Del Mar Surf camp uses only high quality epoxy long boards to teach from NSP & South Point – we also have soft tops available.

For beginners and advanced surfers alike, your surf lessons will always be accompanied by surfing experts certified with Red Cross of Costa Rica in CPR, Water Rescue, First aid & guaranteed a minimum 2 hour surf session at a time.

Daily Pilates Classes

Your retreat will include Pilates exercises that will strengthen and improve your surfing: Plank, Leg Pull Down (simulates Duck Diving), Swan Dive, Single and Double Leg Kicks, Prone Neck Roll and more. With a schedule of both Mat Group Pilates and a special Semi Private class (daily) – you will be sure to excel in your pilates training!

Symmetry Studio: The semi private classes with be taught by Jenny from Symmetry Studio in Santa Teresa.

Jenny discovered Pilates about twelve years ago while assisting Physical Therapists in a Wellness Center in San Juan Capistrano, California. She immediately gravitated towards the method after experiencing firsthand a discipline that promotes balance and alignment as well as strength. She became certified through Body Arts & Science International (BASI), studying directly under Rael Iscawitz. More than 9 years of training clients has given her the experience to restore & re-define the human body. With a deep reverence & passion for the art of teaching and for the practice of Pilates, Jenny strives to continually enhance her skills as a teacher and practitioner of the Pilates Method. She teaches with determination and precision. When she pauses within the flow, expect to feel your body pulsating as you catch your breath and get ready for the next transition deeper into the work. Her classes are sure to challenge your body and mind to the fullest degree. Jenny is an expert motivator inspiring her clients to nurture respect for their body and mind while overcoming perceived limitations.

We at Del Mar Surf Camp know how important it is to create a memorable experience but most of all how hard it is to get the perfect surfing shot from the beach. Our packages include surfing photography of your time in the water so you won’t have to worry about remembering the first time you caught a wave at beautiful Santa Teresa – Mal Pais.

Healthy Meals

 

 

In this retreat package, all of your meals are taken care of as part of your package. They will all be prepared exclusively for the retreat and the food served will ensure that you leave feeling, lighter, more refreshed. If you have any concerns about the food, or any special requests please be sure to let us know.

Can you help me with Transportation?

 

 


Hidden away in the remote town of Santa Teresa – Mal Pais, we can absolutely help with transportation so that you arrive to the destination in the best and easiest possible method. Depending on your arrival time to San Jose on Saturday (if it’s before 1 PM), we can book you a flight from the main town of San Jose to Tambor to the closest airport to Santa Teresa – Mal Pais (or by ground shuttle), then followed by a chartered car directly from Tambor to the beautiful retreat location in Santa Teresa – Mal Pais so you don’t have to worry about anything from the moment you land to the moment you leave. Be sure to mention this when you book your retreat package.


More about Pilates

Pilates: Through core strengthening, torso stabilization, along with the six principles of the Pilates method: centering, control, flow, breath, precisioin, and concentration, this exercise method sets itself apart from many other types of exercise. You will feel rejuvenated, not fatigued. Your body will be developed more uniformly, wrong postures are corrected and balance is improved. Your body will feel freed from nervous tension. The results are truly amazing!

Pilates is a sequence of exercises developed and practiced to simultaneously stretch and lengthen, strengthen, tone and align the body while increasing body awareness. Pilates on the equipment uses a combination of springs and pulleys along with gravity to provide resistance for strengthening the body and encouraging core stability.
